To the critics who have accused the show of being too exaggerated or sensational, creator Bryan Elsley defends the series saying, "[Skins] tries to tell the truth. Sometimes that truth can be a little painful to adults and parents."[2] Written by young writers and told from the perspective of teenagers, the series has found a niche in the zeitgeist of British youth culture. Although it arguably glamorizes sex and drugs and promotes excessive partying, Skins has been used in anti-drug campaigns and helped many teens broach difficult subjects with teachers and parents.

MEET THE AUTHOR

After graduating with a degree in art history from the University of Chicago, Elspeth taught English in Saga, Japan, a rural prefecture famous for two things-mudskippers and an International Hot-Air Balloon Fiesta. She loves to travel, and writing about her misadventures has always been a passion for her. Relatively new to San Francisco, she frequents karaoke bars, trains for races, and explores the city like a flaneur, minus the top hat (not that she has anything against them). She has a lot of pretentious-sounding hobbies, like analog photography and ranking the best sushi-speriences of her life, but is genuine in her interests. Last year, she published an article about her teaching experiences in Eureka, a journal for English teachers in Japan, and won a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for a song she co-wrote. He reads, "Power is the single most important force in the universe. Money and good looks mean nothing except for the power they give us. The second most important is sex. So sex, plus power, equals fun." Relationships are a game to Tony, and his end goal is to sustain his own fun and interest.

"Dear Black Man" is a book that allows the story of many women to be told using the words of a great writer! Ms. Fleary captures the true essence of what women have been afraid to tell their men for centuries in such a way that their men are able to receive it and not feel attacked or ridiculed. This book is a great gift for women of all ages. It will allow teenage girls to begin discerning the characteristics of a good man and allows women of an older age to be inspired and have the accurate verbiage to have these conversations with their men. Well done Ms. Fleary, WELL DONE!

I must say this book is an excellent compilation of letters. Each letter exposes and evokes so many different emotions, I personally identified with so many. Ms. Fleary did an excellent job in making sure that the reader walked away with an overall sense of positivity and empowerment about sense of self and moving forward in relationships. I'm excited to see where this author goes next.

Must have BI reference

This book succinctly explains correct BI and dashboard design, then provides a comprehensive blueprint to design and produce a BI enabled information management system. I am currently using it to integrate BI into my current projects and to educate my principles. It is like having access to an experienced BI consultant.

May be my expectation was more on the content of this book.
First several Chapters of the book covers general aspects of the Metrics, KPI's and its importance and the next chapters talks briefly about the BI & DW concepts.

Screenshot samples of dashboards - 65 pages
List of KPI's (no definition or description) - 50+ pages
May be in the next edition, it will be good if this includes a discussion on the balanced score card and the KPI evaluation (discussed very briefly now). Overall I will give 3 stars for the screenshots and less than 1 star for other aspects in the book.

Complete coverage of Dashboards

This book gave me what I needed to prepare for my first dashboard project. Good background in the ETL and back-end technologies required, good coverage of best practices for KPI design, and the 100+ full color dashboard examples gave me many ideas for my own dashboards. There were also some useful tips from the "Dashboard Project Management" sections that I used.

Clash Within civilizations is an important book to read for those seeking to better understandhow non-Western civilizations are dealing with modernity. IT deals with things such as how traditional Chinese Philosophy in influening China today and how religions like Buddhism and Hinduism are trying to cope with the moderin world. The book also contians a chapter called 'the quest for innovation: Islam and the Challenges of plurism' which is a good resource to better understand the changes in Islamic countries an important thing considering Islam is and perceived to be on the world stage
