Robert Leighton (1611 – 25 June 1684) was a Scottish pastor and moderate puritan. He served as the Bishop of Dunblane, Archbishop of Glasgow, and Principal of the University of Edinburgh.
But he is best remembered for his classic commentary on 1 Peter. Spurgeon remarked on this volume, "We need scarcely commend this truly heavenly work. It is a favorite with all spiritual men."
"The heart that is touched with the loadstone of Divine love," writes Leighton, "trembling with godly fear, and yet still looking towards God by fixed believing, points at the love of election, and tells the soul that its course is heavenward, towards the haven of eternal rest.

If only a handful of other Christians new about Robert Leighton

When I first got a kindle, it was the second edition. I have purchased a Touch and a Fire and a 3rd edition since then. Nothing much worth having was available when I first navigated the store from my first kindle. A few puritan works, but if one would have told me in those days that someday you could find books like this for 2 dollars, I would have been amazed. Anyone who is familiar with this commentary knows of its depth, its devotion, its wisdom. Leighton's comments on 1 Peter 4:18 are worth far more than the two dollars I paid for this. At first I thought this book was not linked to its contents, but I was happily proven wrong. It is not difficult to navigate. My debt to the publishers is immense.

Excellent book, easy to read, though there is great depth of thought , originality , and spiritual thought.
